Work Smart

How do you relax?

How do you relax?

I have a lot of anxiety. For me to relax I have to do something to get rid of the anxiety first. Go for a walk, work on a project such as resin, wood, paint, etc.

Then I can meditate and just sit outside and listen to nature. That’s how I relax. I used to just be able to plop down on the couch and veg. It’s almost as if the older I get the worse the anxiety.

  1. Thanks for sharing! I usually start cleaning and doing other things around to keep me busy. It keeps my anxiety under control. It’s great to hear other people’s perspectives.

  2. Going to pray specifically for the anxieties.. it’s a controlling spirit it keeps you from really enjoying your present moments.
No matter how much God bless you. Anxiety will keep you from enjoying the blessings . And yes I know what is like because it has l literally stopped me from taking chances. And when we take a chance it’s because we have faith, and without faith, it is impossible to please God . It’s fear of what could happen. So yes Mel .. that anxiety has to go .. and I’m going to pray it out of you .
You won’t even notice it when it happens. In fact, you are going to notice as time goes by that you haven’t freaked out about something or the other.🙏

  3. You need to relax more. Probably you border workaholic in character like me who who sometimes feel like I am wasting time or being lazy when I take time to relax. Anxiety is bad, it can lead to joint pain, backache and headache – at least that’s what I used to experience. But I have learnt to relax. When my day is done, I sit down to catch up with the news of the day on radio, pray, watch a bit of tv, then back to radio for music or international news on the BBC. If my kids are around and we’re in the village, we’ve a Christian radio program called Unshackled that sends us to bed and two family movie nights a week (Wednesday and Friday) and Sunday afternoon, immediately after lunch or while we wait for lunch. Sometimes, I feel a crossword puzzle before bed or watch a slideshow of some of the thousands of pictures on my PC, especially family pics while I am home alone in the village.
Here in Entebbe, I have regular walks, bible study and prayer and watch current affairs programs and documentaries. Reading is another way, I get to relax. If you some serious physical exertion, you body will demand a rest but your mind might still be racing. If you’re a Christian, take heed of what the Apostle Paul told the church in Philipi, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 6-7, NKJV).
Thanks for sharing and God bless you.

  4. I completely understand what you mean. I started writing my anxiety down. The things that I was worried about or thinking about. After a while I started to focus on the things I wrote and my mind went silent (or as quiet as you and I know is quiet) and I then elaborated on my writing to form a narrative that I understand better and I used them for a few songs that I wrote. Simple yet effective. Hopefully it may help you too
