Work Smart

Cinnamon for spots?

The other day I came across an article on one way to help get rid of, or help heal spots on plant leaves by using a couple common ingredients that are right in your kitchen. Cinnamon.

Cinnamon can be effective at treating spots on plant leaves due to its anti fungal properties. It can also help prevent further anti fungal growth & promote healing. It also helps in treating powdery mildew , stem rot and fungal gnats.

  • The cinnamon & milk combination acts as a fungicide helping to combat the leaf spots.
  • Cinnamon water mixture works better than sprinkling ground cinnamon over the plant leaves because the liquid coats the surface more evenly and penetrates the leaf pores.
  • This is for mild to moderate cases only & I can not guarantee it will work 100% since I have not tried this yet.

I usually, 99% of the time, see if things actually work or not before I post them on my blog for you guys. I wanted to give it a try. So, let’s try this together!

I will do this every day for 7 days, after the 7 days are finished, I’ll share my pictures to show you the progress.

Supplies needed:

* Ground cinnamon – 2 Tablespoons

* Milk – 1 cup

* Water – 1 cup

* Spray bottle

* Measuring cups

* Measuring spoons

* Funnel

Step 1:

Using the funnel to help pour the liquids into the bottle- pour the milk, water, and cinnamon into the funnel on the bottle.

If you are worried about the cinnamon clogging the spray bottle you can let the mixture steep for about 10 minutes. After the 10 minutes are up, using a cheesecloth or milk bag strain the ingredients into a bowl to get any pieces of cinnamon that may be in there, out after it’s done steeping.

Step 2:

Replace lid on bottle and give it good shake to mix the ingredients together.

Step 3:

Spray on the infected plant leaves 1x per day for 5-7 days or until spots and/or powdery mildew is gone.

I hope this helps some of you for your plants. I will re-post this a week from today to share any progress.

Till next time ~

Mel
