Sometimes when our plants leaves start turning yellow or a greenish yellow, it can be a sign of a nutritional deficiency in the plant.
An at home remedy is literally right in your kitchen. Bananas. You can reuse those peels to something you probably haven’t thought of….
Banana peels are filled with magnesium, potassium, phosphorus and calcium. Very beneficial for plants.
You can even use it for a little pick me up for your plants!
Let’s turn those peels into a nutritious liquid fertilizer for your plants.

Supplies needed–
* 2-3 banana peels
* Large mason jar with lid
* Water – enough to fill your jar.
Place the banana peels into the jar.

Step 1-
Step 2-
Fill the jar with water.

Step 3-
Put the lid on the jar and set aside. You can either put it in the fridge overnight or on the counter.
Leave it overnight
Step 4–
The next day, take the peels out of the jar. The water in the jar will be a brownish yellow color. That’s exactly what you want!

Step 5–
You can do this one of two ways –
Pour the banana peel fertilizer into the plant. like in the above photo.
OR
Put the banana peel fertilizer in to a spray bottle and spray the plant leaves with it. This is called ‘ Foliar Feeding ‘.
Repeat as needed.

You can probably make this fertilizer one more time with the same peels. When your done with the peels you can do couple things with them –
- Put them in your compost bin
- Put the peels into your garden
- Cut up the peels and put under the soil around the base of your vegetable plants
- Dehydrate the banana peels and turn them into a banana powder. You can use it in baking, yogurt , smoothies, etc.
