Everyone has a bad habit. Mine is saving things to create something more out of them. Like pickle jars you can reuse for canning or storing items in like cotton balls, nails, craft items, etc. Cardboard egg cartons can be turned into fire starters or paper clay.
Today I am showing you a few ways to repurpose oui glass yogurt jars. Really, you can use any jar you’d like. In the past, I did a couple posts using them. One being Bbq rubs.

Or even storing your homemade fruit powders in!

I also created a beach themed decor with sea glass and macramed fish netting to go around it. 👇

You can purchase lids for the Oui jars on Amazon, they have some pretty nice ones!

PROJECT # 1: 1st Decorative candle holder
Supplies needed:
• Baking soda & water mixture (form a paste) using to clean residue from label on jar.
• Sponge
• Mod Podge – 1-2 tablespoons
• Paint, alcohol ink, glitter paint, glitter or food dye (color of choice)
• Foam brush
• Stencil brush
• Placemat or newspaper to cover your work area with
• Tea light candle
• Tiny Shimmery styrofoam balls. ( you can find them at any craft store or Dollar store)
• Sticks
Step 1:
Start by peeling off the label on the jar. Wash the jar with soap and water. If the stickiness doesn’t come off you can either make a paste out of baking soda and water, put it on the sticky residue on the jar and let it sit for a couple minutes then wash off with sponge and water OR you can use Acetone. It’ll take it right off. Wash the jar with soap & water.
Step 2:
For this step, you can either – in a small bowl or plate, mix a couple drops of paint with mod podge and stir OR mix glitter/glitter paint with the mod podge and stir.
You can even just use the Mod Podge or Elmer’s glue to give it a frosty look.

Project #2: 2nd Decorative candle holder

For this one ☝️, I used a cream color patina alcohol ink. Mixed a couple drops with mod podge. I applied two coats, I let it dry in between each coat. For the third coat, I used a stenciling brush. (See picture ☝️) I dabbed it on to give it a little textured look.
PROJECT #3: Colored mason jars

This one is a popular one. You put a little mod podge inside the jar, add a couple drops of the paint or food coloring, swirl it around inside the jar so the whole inside gets coated.
Put the jar upside down on a plate or cardboard to dry.
Project # 4. Macrame decor

Macrame over a jar. Used a braiding macrame technique. Goes with almost anything, you could use it just as simple decor or use it as a vase.
Project # 5

Turn them into candles!

Project #6

You can use jars to store homemade or store bought detergent/fabric softener in.
Make your own homemade fabric softener. 👇
Project #7

For this project I reused a pickle jar. Used acrylic paint and made the trees using the end of a paintbrush. You can put a tea light inside or the mini Christmas lights they sell at the Dollar store.
Ideas for jar usage:
- Paintbrush holder
- Water for painting
- Use for storing spices, herbs & seasonings
- Decorative uses (see the ideas above)
- Storing craft supplies: buttons, Pom Pom’s, etc
- Reuse Mason or Ball jars for canning
- Store leftovers
- Use a mason jar/pickle jar to make a salad in a jar or overnight oats in.
- Use to store homemade paint & stain in.
- Paint or decoupage a jar and use it as a vase
- Use jars to organize your garage. Nails, screws, nuts & bolts, etc
- Make a change jar
- Make your own salad dressing and store it in a jar.
Till next time,
