Work Smart

Mosquitoes and coffee grounds

Hello everyone. With summer upon us in no time, the mosquitoes are already starting to come out. I found a good way to use up your used coffee grounds.

We are going to make a mosquito repellent using coffee grounds. Coffee may smell good to humans but is not a good smell to mosquitoes or other bugs.

Supplies:

Aluminum foil or pan

Used coffee grounds ( depending on how long you’ll be sitting outside- any where between 10-20 coffee scoops full )

Lighter

Candle wick or lighter fluid

Step 1:

With your aluminum foil, make a small round bowl out of it that you will use to put the coffee grounds on/in.

Step 2:

Once your foil bowl is made, put your used coffee grounds in the foil bowl. Form the coffee grounds into the shape of a hill.

When the hill of grounds is formed, you can either put a piece of candle wick poking out on top OR put a couple drops of lighter fluid on top of the grounds. You will use one of these two methods to light the coffee grounds.

That’s it. Now go outside and light your home made mosquito repellent!

Enjoy!
