Work Smart

Past or future

Do you spend more time thinking about the future or the past? Why?

I have a tendency to think more about the past than the future. Which I don’t like. I tend to think more about people that have wronged me. You can’t change the past. You can’t take back your errors or others wrongings to you. You can learn from it and move forward.

Which is one of my goals for this year. Move forward, we all make mistakes. So I try to think about things I’m looking forward to. Goals I want to achieve. Like upgrading my blog, my business starting, new ideas, vacations this year.

On that note, here’s to the new year. New year, new goals. 🥂

  3. I look to the past too much as well – those hurts from so many years ago still hurt!
I’m working to stop and redirect my thoughts.

  4. I relate to Paul in the Holy Bible. I look to the future and I am excited about the unkown that is God’s plan for me. All the while, using my past, with my testimony for Christ, to help encourage people to Christ.

  6. Our present moment never came from anywhere and it doesn’t end or disappear somewhere. Only in our own minds to we construct a timeline of past experiences which are known as memories and future thoughts that we call our dreams. Being consumed by the memories of a causative past and distracted by the prominent future we imagine, takes us away from the present moment. If we are detached from this present moment, we are detached from ourselves and in essence we are detached from reality. Our existence is only ever in the present moment. This moment is infinite and eternal for all our living days. We can’t measure it, it’s constantly moving, persisting forever.
We have created this future for ourselves that doesn’t exist. Tomorrow never comes. It never will either because you only ever experience the present. The now. When we are talking to ourselves and thinking, it’s not until we stop doing this that we see ourselves in the moment. The present moment. We don’t see ourselves ten years ago or ourselves ten years in the future. We see the present moment and see we are living in the now. This is the present of our existence.
