Hello everyone. My son found a recipe online for “Brown Sugar Cubes”. Super easy & simple recipe. People used to use sugar or brown sugar cubes in their coffee or tea. I am honestly unsure if some still do however, if your house is anything like mine…. we go through a ton of brown sugar. My son uses it in his coffee as well. I figure we’d give it a try. Honestly, if I would of known they were this simple to make I would of done it along time ago. You usually don’t think of things like this ya know? I am so used to just buying Powdered cream & regular sugar in a bag, that I didn’t think about making cubes.
My earlier post on making homemade brown sugar you can read here if you have not read it yet –

Supplies Needed:
Brown Sugar – 1 cup
2-3 Tablespoons of water
Bowl
Spoon or rubber spatula to stir with
Melon Ball scoop or something similar ( A small coffee scoop worked well too) OR
A rubber ice cube or chocolate mold tray
Paper Towels in case of a mess
Measuring cup
Parchment paper
container to store them in when done.
Step 1
Start by pouring approx. 1 cup of brown sugar into a bowl. Next you will add 1-2 Tablespoons of water. Mix well. Don’t worry, if it ‘s too watery than gradually add a little more brown sugar. You want the mixture to be moist. Wet enough so that when you form a ball, it will hold together. On our first try we accidently put too much water in. Thankfully it was fixable. When you add too much water it ends up looking more like cream of wheat texture. You want it to be packable & if it’s too wet, it’ll be runny and will not hold a shape.

Step 2
After you have mixed it, you can either –
- Use the melon baller or coffee scoop & make little balls onto a cookie sheet OR
- Take a rubber chocolate mold and put the brown sugar into that.
We ended up using the rubber mold. They are a little bigger than we’d like, that’s okay though. We just use less brown sugar than.

Step 3
That’s it! Let them sit for 2-3 hours to harden into balls/cubes. (depending on the mold you use, we used a little pumpkin mold).
We made these in the evening & let them dry overnight.
