History itself

What historical event fascinates you the most?

I like history itself. You can learn a lot. From the old wars to days of the cowboys & Indians. I think what interests me the most is not an event itself; it’s time periods.

* The days of the Vikings

* the horse & carriage days

* the Victorian time period

* the Great Depression

There was a movie I watched awhile back called the boy in the striped pajamas I believe. Things like that make you wander. Ya know? You end up looking into history.

When I was a CNA for a Senior Living facility, I used to love listening to their stories.

One man was not doing well. He wasn’t religious but he wanted to share a secret with someone….. so I sat & listened. Fascinating stories! All in all… he was a Boot legger. He said he never told a sole but needed to get it out. He passed within a couple hours of telling me.

Another gentleman I took care of did not speak English. But he had numbers tattooed on one of his arms by the wrist. His family shared his stories with me on how their dad was in the Holocaust. I felt bad for the guy. He had a tough life, in the end he was happy & had a wonderful family. Again though, it made me think so of course, I read about it.

I like reading about history. It’s not one fascinating event, it’s all of history.

  1. It is so much better when you learn history from someone who live it, it makes the experience so much more personal.
