Sage Spray Air Freshener

Hi everyone! In my house we have quite a few pets. Let’s see, 1 dog, 3 cats, 1 Gecko, 2 Dwarf hamsters & last but not least fish. My house smells like animals. I try everything under the sun to get rid of the odor. 1 thing I do that does help a lot is Sage spray. I spray everything before I go to bed. The couches, carpet/area rugs, door mats, dog bed. You name it, I spray it. In the morning…. It still smells fresh.

Sage has a clean smell to it & has many benefits.

  • It is a cost efffective way to purify the air,
  • Sage is thought to have anti microbial properties that help kill bacteria, viruses & fungi.
  • Repels insects
  • Reduce’s stress & anxiety

Carrier oils make it possible to use essential oils safely. They dilute essential oils so you can use them safely.

Supplies:

Spray bottle

Distilled or well water – about 1 cup

Sea Salta pinch

A Carrier oil – amount depends on size of bottle. (You can use mineral oil, witch hazel, coconut oil, Jojoba oil.)

Sage – Either fresh or in the jar. Approx 1 tsp. full

Paper towels (in case of spill)

Sage essential oil (optional) – approx. 10-20 drops

Optional – some people add other essential oils with the sage. Such as- Rose or lavender or even peppermint.

Start by filling your bottle about half full with your carrier oil. I used Witch Hazel. Next you will add the essential oil and/or sage herb & the sea salt. Lastly, you will add the cup of distilled water ( or well water). Replace lid and shake well.

If desired, you can let the Sage spray mix sit overnight to give the sage a bit to soak into the water. I made mine during the day, and at night used it. So it sat for about 5-6 hours.
