Work Smart

Replenish again and again

With a home full of pets, our house does get that certain smell to it. I love all our pets, what I don’t love is the smell . So I am always lighting candles, using diffusers or incense. Even spray air fresheners and plug ins. I also use the pet odor carpet spray as well as Lysol.

I did a post in the past on how to make your own spray air fresheners. If you’d like to try that one, you can read it here 👇

Sage Spray Air Freshener

Buying all those things gets pricey. So I found a way to refill the fragrance plug ins with very little spending.

Now I’ve tried a couple ways to refill them. Today I’m sharing the one that I have found works the best!

Refill a plug in:

Supplies needed:

* 1 Empty plug in air freshener container- rinsed out

* Essential oil – smell of choice.

* Water – enough to fill the air freshener container half way.

* Paper towels – in case of spill

Optional

Mini funnel

Replacement Wick

Step 1:

Remove plastic cap with the wick in it and set aside.

Step 2:

Rinse out the container.

Once it’s rinsed out, you can use the mini funnel if you choose to do so. Pour in the essential oil to approximately the half way point of the container.

** I like to use essential oils for the seasons or holidays. For instance, it’s Christmas time, so I went with “Balsam Fur” fragrance. For the bathroom you could go with eucalyptus or the bedroom you could use lavender. The possibilities are endless!

Step 3:

Fill the rest with water to what would be the neck of the container.

Replace cap and wick. Give it a good shake.

** If you’d like, you can reuse the wick in the bottle. It’s still usable for another 1-2 more times. (1-2 months).

Amazon does sell fabric wicks. They are called “fabric sticks” or “Humidifier fabric sticks”. See link above.

I’ve seen them in 4” and 6” size.

Cut to the size you need and replace it with the used one.

Step 4:

Once the cap and wick is on, insert it into the plug in part.

Plug into an outlet you choose and enjoy!

Till next time,

~ Mel
