
Ginger water, Swizzle, Switchel, Haymakers Punch, or it’s even called Switzel. Whichever you’d like to call it, it was a popular drink dating back to the 1700’s. It originated in the Caribbean or New England and became popular in the American colonies.
It had become popular among farmers in the 19th century earning its name “haymakers punch”. Given its ability to rehydrate you and give you an energy boost on a hot day.
Today people make it and a little rum to it.

Supplies Needed:
• 1/2 gallon of water
• 1/2 cup molasses
• 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
• 1 Tablespoon ginger
• A jug or pitcher
• Measuring cup & measuring spoon
• Spoon
Step 1:
In a jug or pitcher combine the – water, molasses, vinegar and ginger.
Stir until all ingredients are fully dissolved.
Step 2:
Chill in refrigerator or keep at room temperature.
Tips:
** You can use maple syrup or honey instead of molasses.
** Use fresh or powdered ginger.
