Work Smart

Overnight oats

Weekdays are already hectic for most people. Having a quick grab and go breakfast that is all ready made and ready to eat is a plus. Oats are packed with whole grains, fiber, vitamins and nutrients that make it the perfect go to.

Overnight oats are the easiest no cook breakfast. Measure out and throw the ingredients in a jar, stick in the fridge and it’s ready for you in the morning.

There are so many variations too.

Add in’s:

• Chia seeds– high in fiber, antioxidants, omega 3 and supports weight loss

• Flax seeds– boosts heart health, helps lower cholesterol, helps stabilize your blood sugar.

• Sunflower seeds– excellent source of vitamin E, healthy fats, Vitamin B.

Nuts- high in fat, low in carbs, rich in nutrients, antioxidants and fiber. They help with weight loss, diabetes and cholesterol.

• Maple syrup

• Brown sugar or a sweetener

• Fruit such as- bananas, blueberries, cranberries, dried fruit like mangos and apricots and raisins

• Vanilla extract

• You could even add in almond butter

• Cinnamon

Ingredients and Supplies needed:

• 1/4 cup of oats – Regular, organic or gluten free

• 1/2 cup of milk – regular or almond

• 1/2 Tablespoon of Chia seeds or seed of choice.

• Jar or container with lid

• Measuring cup

• Tablespoon

Optional:

• You can add in the fruit now or in the morning. For myself, I add it in the night before.

• Nuts

• Cinnamon

Or anything else you like

Step 1:

In the jar add the oatmeal and milk.

Then add your seeds, fruit, nuts, brown sugar, cinnamon, etc. Keep in mind you can add the extras like nuts and fruit, the night before or in the morning.

Place lid on jar/container and give the jar a little shake.

Step 2:

In the morning your breakfast is already prepared and ready!

It really is delicious! At first it’s a little different because you’re eating cold oatmeal instead of warm. After a few bites, you get that “gosh this really is tasty” vibe going.

I hope you try this, let me know what you think.
