Work Smart

Walk or run?

How often do you walk or run?

Good morning everyone! Well i do not run. The only time I run is if somethings chasing me. 😂. I walk a twice a week and ride the exercise bike or my elliptical 2x a week.

I have an app on my phone called 99 walks. It has all sorts of groups on there. For example, you can join a group for people with anxiety, or there’s a group for people that like to travel, etc. it helps me a lot.

  1. It is amazing how much a simple walk can do for mental health as well as physical.

Only run if something is chasing you 🤣.
I really got tickled with that.

      3. You have a ministry.. I see an anointing in you .. it’s powerful. I’m not going to get into details just yet .. but it’s there and it’s going to break out . Always remember that I bring you before our Heavenly Father in His throne room . You are always there with me .. expect miracles and wonderful things that God is going to do through you . He is already doing them .. but what’s coming next is amazing for you .

  3. Walking is great for your mental health they say. As someone who has mental illness I concur that when I’m able to walk it’s great. When I’m not though, the devastation of not being able to do such a thing that you take for granted is monumental. From this I believe that walking is a vital component to everyday life and vastly important to us all (that can). The old adage you don’t know what you’ve got till its gone resonates. The easiest things to do are the most important

      1. I love playing guitar but the bipolar robs me of doing it. I’m not excellent at it but I really enjoy it. However, I hardly pick my guitar up because of this illness that robs me of my passion. It’s something that you can go nuts trying to understand why or what for. Recently I’ve started to play my guitar a bit more, no reason why. I’m not pushing it but 5 minutes is now 10 minutes. Sometimes we have to just accept things and not over analyse the why’s or what for and enjoy the moment. I’m still as bad as I always was but my mam has nicknamed me “Eric Claptout” and I’m happy with that 😂🎸

      2. Not over analyzing is very hard to do. Especially w/ Bipolar. I’m right there with you. You just have to find what is going to motivate you and go with it from there. Easier said then done though

      3. Absolutely. I started learning guitar about 7 years ago and I was aiming to be able to play every oasis song. I know all the chords to do it now but I need to practice more to do it. So I reckon I am only at the level of someone playing for 3 years. Having said that I have the ability to play nearly every song going with a few minutes practicing with the chords etc etc. You have hit the nail on the head regarding the over analysing. You become a prisoner in your own made up world and escaping from your reality is making yourself detached from reality. A person who tries to flatten the ripples in the ocean is never going to succeed, just as you can’t silence your mind. Accept the thoughts you have but don’t pursue them as they will consume you. What happens is going to happen and no amount of anxiety will make any difference to what happens. I’m really enjoying your posts 🙌 looking forward to seeing your next one 🤗

      4. That’s awesome with the guitar! It gives you motivation. Something to look forward to. For me I’m manic. The lack of motivation to start something cause of depression is a struggle. Once I start though, I keep going and don’t want to stop. For example, if i played the guitar like you, it’d be really hard for me to get up and practice it. Once I do… I’ll be there all day.
Thank you for the compliment! I do appreciate it.

      5. I’ve just had a bout of mania for 7/8 months. I couldn’t pick up the guitar in this time. I didn’t get a bath/shower (washed daily though), didn’t eat regularly, had 4 or 5 days no sleep and then had 1 or 2 hours and felt ace still. Had a basic disregard for consequences to my actions (told a few people the truth about them 🤦🏽), I started doing one thing and then stopped to start something else. I don’t regret anything about it as it’s a part of what makes me who I am. It’s easier to go with it than swim against the tide so to speak. I write about it. As little as I do, or just something I get on paper. From this I go back to it and I can elaborate. It’s real life.

I agree with you that the initial motivation is not there but when you get passed it then you’ll be completely focused on the activity 100%. I’m like this when I start explaining myself and my understanding of what I am going through. Probably to the point of boring the other person 😆 we have a illness that happens to have the same name yet we have individual experiences. We are all individually unique yet fundamentally identical. I’m sure we have plenty to relate about with each other but also differences to x

      6. I wrote this a couple of months ago. I was on Quetiapine at the time, I ended up on 750mg a day before they changed it to Olazapine which is working so far but it’s the weight gain for antipsychotics that is a pain in the arse. I’ve put 2 stone on. Hope you don’t mind me constantly replying on your blog either 🤗

      7. Good read. I do know long term use of certain meds can cause hallucinations. I purposely go off of one of mine for about a month then back on for 3 months because of that. You feel like a weirdo. Agree, the weight gain is horrible. Myself though, I have food allergies so it’s not too bad o no gaining weight cause I have to eat a vegan diet already.
I don’t mind your comments 😊. Comment away. Sometimes it takes me a minute to respond cause this app doesn’t always show me when someone responds.

      8. Let me know your email and I will do.

I’m currently researching the medication for bipolar. I graduated in medicinal chemistry at university so I work on understanding the medication and then I work backwards to try understand how things are. I’m trying to be an expert in myself

      11. If you are interested in the subject and want to learn, I think it’s just a case of applying yourself. I have some text books now to help my research and when I talk to psychiatrist or pharmacist they are shocked (I don’t really look like an academic) but I understand the books and if I don’t, I’m able to form a question about it with justification and reasoning. I’m good with analytical stuff but I’m useless with practical things. If you asked me to do some DIY you’d be in hysterics with my inability to do the simplest things 😆

  5. I try to walk every day. I actually multi-task. I use the time to call friends and family.

    1. If you don’t have it I recommend it. There’s a small monthly fee but if you meet your walking goal every month they send you a bracelet with a motivational saying on it every month.

  9. When I was a teenager, full of adrenaline, I was a hundred meters faster than any dog. And none of them bit me. The only dog that bit me was a neighbor’s dog, which I didn’t even expect to bite me as it barked at my leg while I was pushing my bike. And now…I leave that bike and start chasing the dog, and he hides under the car because he bit the wrong guy, a guy who is faster than him. Now in my middle years, I’d rather climb a nearby tree. Halfway up the tree, I’m hanging like that, and a dog jumps to bite me in the rear.
